It appears the gods are conspiring against me in an effort to stop this show reaching your ears. First the beta version of the new site refuses to update and then I suffer from DNS problems with my ISP leaving me with an average upload speed of 3KB/s, resulting in over 12 hours of transfer to the server, which proved fruitless. So making even greater sacrifices for my listeners I have retired to a local pub to take advantage of their free wifi and ice cold Guinness..

A very special show this week to celebrate the launch of a new album which I am very personally involved. Regular listeners will have heard me play, on many occasions, music by Electromagnetic Impulses. So I decided to take it one step further, not just play his music, but make a mix of it and further more release it as an album. The result of which you can hear in todays show. A bit of info: Electromagnetic Impulses vs The Green Dragon Electromagnetic Impulses is: Jason Mallett a music producer of all electronica genres, who has been producing music for the past 10 years. He first appeared on the Internet in Feb 2007, and within 8 months had written and produced over 35 tracks, found a manager, released his first EP, as well as building up a strong fan base. He even got nominated for a music award. Not bad for 12 months work! His music is heavily influenced by Infected Mushroom and Dave Clarke so many tracks will have elements of both.. also he has been greatly influenced by the likes of: Kosheen, Faithless, Pendulum, Orbital, Astral Projection, Tiesto, Enigma, Dire Straights and Pink Floyd. Some collaborations with DJ Crimson Death (Canada), Pixieguts (Australia), Corrientes (USA) in 2007. The Green Dragon : aka GD aka Martin Devaughan has been in the music business all his working life having worked in a variety of roles from music management to record label A&R to radio presenter to club DJ to promoter and publicist. He presents the very popular, GDM produced music podcast, Bite Size Bonus and it was here he was introduced to Electromagnetic Impulses music. One of the features of Bite Size Bonus is GD's occasional mixes which have attracted praise around the world and so it seemed only natural that he should take E.I. and give it the GD treatment. If anybody was to have told me just over 3 years ago that I would be doing a "radio show" that would be listened to in over sixty different countries I would have said they were mad. But here we are 2008 and that is exactly what is happening. What a feeling to know that every time I release one of these beast of a show it has such a wide hitting appeal. And not only is my audience so far spread geographically but also they come from all walks of life. I know of 2 doctors in the UK who listen, a rapper from New York and a taxi driver from Brisbane, Australia. The feed back I get from my audience via email is sometime over whelming. To know that something I have produced can evoke a response from a fellow human on the other side of the planet is truly mind blowing, when you consider I am one person, sat in the back room of my home, doing what I enjoy, playing and talking about music.

Last week I played part of a 30 minute mix which resulted in over 40 emails asking for more. I answer the calls. Today I let loose with the second instalment of that mix and hope you like this too. Sometimes words fail me, other times I fail words. Today is one of those other times. We have all experienced misjudgement on our hand/eye coordination at some point in our life, but how about mouth/eye coordination? I have always prided myself on producing BsB without a script. OK so I have a planned playlist, a running order and perhaps a dozen bullet points of topics I would like to cover during the show, but no formal scripts as such. But today after a rather fine start (if I may say so myself) to the show, and a trouble free link between musical sections I find that there is a temporary failure in the IGBST (Inter Galactic Bull Shit Translator) whereby no matter what I see written down on paper fails to transmit via my mouth in with any cohesion or order. Some of my people have already listened to the part of the show in question and report that they noticed no difference, but believe me, it is there to bare witness to the fact I am never going to become the anchor-person on the nation news channel.

Thankfully the music speaks for itself and it speaks volumes today as we skip across the genres with ease. Where else can you hear such a eclectic mix of tunes and Nicholas Parsons?

Well it has been nearly three weeks since I pointed my mouth at a podcasting microphone but I could not let the year end without recording a show for my loyal listeners. As you can see from the playlist I have a big one for you (ohh err missus). Nearly two hours of music to herald my return as the king of music podcasting. There were times during my absence, I have to admit, that I gave serious thought to not coming back.Nobody really knew. not even me, how close I had come to a total meltdown , both physically and mentally. The break has given me chance to reshape my lifestyle and hopefully once again enjoy the things I love.

Bite Size Bonus News Flash

There comes a time in everyones life where you have to take a step back and take along hard look at life, where it is taking you, how far off the planned track you have wondered (if at all), what adjustments you need to make.

Over the past weekend I have had several meetings/discussions with various people who are involved in my business life, from my accountant to music industry buddies to radio station bosses. I took that long look at where Iâm going and where Iâve been and weighed up what I am doing and to what end.

Over past few months my business has started to demand more and more of my time and in all honesty I have not been giving it that time. Podcasting is part of my business but only a small part (albeit the most enjoyable part) but I have been giving priority to my podcast when I should have been doing other tasks.

So here I am, Monday morning and starting one of the hardest re-evaluations of my business life. It means I going to be taking from now until the new year to restructure Green Dragon Media, to streamline operations and give myself a bit more free time while at the same time making the business more manageable without having to work 18 hours per day.

I will not be producing my daily Bite Size Bonus during this period but will release a couple or three âspecialsâ to keep you up to date with what is happening. I feel I deserve this break, after over 3 years of non stop podcasting.

One thing I will say, Iâm not going to give up on podcasting but maybe re focus my efforts. At the end of the day we all need to earn a living so that we can also do the things we enjoy. Iâm lucky because the things I enjoy earn me a living, it just a matter of getting those things in the right order and deciding what take priority over what.

As 2007 comes to an end Iâm looking forward with a renewed optimism to 2008, but for now GD is enjoying the view.

It is amazing what difference 8 hours uninterrupted sleep can make. Today is a good day, not only for my well being but my creative juices are flowing and I am looking forward to , nay, excited about some new podcasts that will soon be unleashed from UK podcasters. It has never been a better time to find new music so long as you are prepared to listen with your ears and not your mind controlled advertising world mentality. Who cares what brand of shoes they wear, good music is good music.

8 hours makes a difference I said. Well in todays show 18 minutes made a difference. As I sat and listened to one section of the show as I recorded I decided what the world needs now is a good honest to goodness prog rock podcast ... so watch this space. Talk is cheap and you should know me by now.

But yesterday somebody told me they thought Bite Size Bonus has lost its cutting edge and was now settled in as a middle of the road music show. With doing this show 5 days a week there is sometimes the temptation to almost switch to automatic pilot and not really think about what you are doing. OK so I love music first and foremost, so therefore I only play music I actually like. But every now and again I put together a playlist and think to myself "Yes, I love it". Today is one of those days. Prior to recording todays show I actually listened to the entire playlist twice, and even as I was recording I was still in awe of the music that was being delivered through my headphones. Bite Size Bonus - The Big Five Ohh Ohhhh

So here we are, Bite Size Bonus has come of age. The 500th episode is finally in the can and ready to grace your lug holes. But hey do not think for one minute that todays show was easy. Looking back over all the great tunes I have played during the past 500 shows and trying to find just 12 or 13 to fill the hour today was a near impossible task. I did manage to get a short list at one point, about 200 songs, but trying to cut this list down proved too much. Finally I decided todays show should not be about my favourite tracks from all show but more a reflection of what Bite Size Bonus is all about.

But still even that is not totally true. Bite Size Bonus is more than just me playing bands. It is more than just the bands themselves. It is about you, the loyal listener. If you did not listen, the bands would not get heard and I would be wasting my time. Thankfully it all comes together and the music hits you between the ears each day.

So for the 500th time, and with the same sincerity as the first time, I thank you for sticking with BsB and here is to the next 500 shows, in which I may just learn what I am doing.

Keeping a positive mental attitude is a must whenever life deals you a bum hand. And one thing is for sure I know some people are positive that I am mental. A big thank you for the messages of encouragement that arrived yesterday after my announcement. Some of you people are so sick it is brilliant - just what I needed to brighten up an otherwise cloudy day.

So enough on the gloom and doom and on with the show. Another stonking playlist for your aural pleasure, some good old fashioned rocking tunes mix together with a few more mellow affair, all coming together to make a trademark BsB.
